There is a lot of information available about healthy foods and special diets. Figuring out how to put together healthy meals that makes sense for your body can be challenging. Further complicating the issue is trying to find the right foods for you that are inline with your goals, personal preferences, sensitivities and allergies. Nutritional coaching facilitates the inclusion of healthy eating and helps clients move toward a healthier lifestyle. Nutrition coaching includes educating clients about healthy food choices and developing strategies for maintaining healthy eating habits.
Nutrition coaching is appropriate for the person that wants to :
Learn how to put together a healthy meal that is delicious and satisfying,
Jump start weight loss,
Change their diet to maximize muscle growth, or
Change their eating habits to support a new diet.
Keep in mind that Nutrition Coaching includes much more than just meal planning. As your nutrition coach I will provide you with suggested meal plans, ongoing support, and strategies to overcome any challenges or setbacks you encounter. I will also help you track your progress and ultimately hold you accountable for the choices you are making. I offer two nutrition coaching plans. For more information select a plan below.
Meal planning often includes selecting recipes, assembling a shopping list, and purchasing the ingredients. Is this something you do on a regular basis? Is this something you wish you did but never get around to doing? I get it, you’re busy and maybe you don’t want to spend your few moments of free time doing this.
That’s okay, I can help you with this. And actually, I really enjoy doing this. My biggest issue when it comes to meal planning is getting past the part where I get to pick the recipes that I want to make for the week. I often get lost in the mountains (yes, seriously mountains) of cookbooks I own.
Why Should You Meal Plan?
Eat Healthier
For starters, meal planning will help you make better choices about the food you eat. You will have your well thought out plan including a variety of veggies, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, etc. When dinner time rolls around you’ll know exactly what to prepare, you’ll have all the ingredients for it and you might even have some of the ingredients prepped. Having your plan will keep you from resorting to fast food which is often loaded with excess calories and and has little nutritional value.
Save Time
Meal planning can save you time. With a planned grocery list, you will spend less time at the grocery store wandering around trying to remember the items you need. You will also cut down on the number of trips to the grocery store. You can avoid those “quick trips” to the store to pick up the few items you need for dinner. Notice the quotes around “quick trips,” you know they are never as quick as you think!
Save Money
Another great reason to meal plan is to save money. You will only be purchasing items you actually need for the week and not just what looked good at the store. How many times have you purchased a huge bunch of kale only to have it go bad because you didn’t have time to make it or didn’t have a plan for using it? Yes, we have ALL done this. Even though the intention to eat healthier is there, it's often hard to follow through when you don't have a meal plan.
